Catherine Breaux

Hello. My name is Catie Breaux. I am very excited to be teaching this year at Webber Middle School and am looking forward to meeting all my students this year.

About My Classroom

Within my classroom, students will develop and practice 8th grade mathematical concepts and practices. Students will be presented with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in high school, as well as their future academic and real-world endeavors. Students will learn how to discuss mathematical concepts and collaborate with groups. We will use a variety of activities such as discussions and investigations to promote student's mathematical growth.

What is your education background and experience?

I graduated from Illinois State University with my Mathematics and Science Degree with a focus on Education. I went to school to become a high school math teacher, but landed in a middle school where I found it more fitting for me. After school, i started to tutor on the side while substitute teaching. Once I moved to CO, I landed a long term substitution job. After awhile, I was hired and started my first year as a teacher the next fall. I am entering my year 4 now at WMS.

What are your favorite hobbies or interests outside of school?

I love to coach and play Volleyball. I also play kickball as well. Hiking, paddleboarding, dancing, spending time outside are a few other hobbies that I enjoy.

What do you love most about teaching?

What I love most about teaching is the relationships I build with my students. I want to be a role model to them and someone they can look up to when they are in need. I do love mathematics and enjoy helping these students grow academically, but helping a student grow as a person is what is most important to me.

Courses Taught

I currently teach Math 8, but have taught Geometry, Health, and Web20 in the past.
