Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, I have called Fort Collins home for the last 7 years. I originally came out to Colorado to work in outdoor education. I worked in various organizations and roles for 6 years leading hiking and backpacking trips for kids during the summers. I first started in Poudre School District as a substitute before transitioning to a paraprofessional role at Boltz Middle School. From there, I discovered a drive to teach and enrolled in classes at Colorado State University to pursue a Master's in education.
My classroom puts a lot of emphases to learn on the students themselves.
I worked in outdoor education for six years. I spent two years as an Integrated Services Paraprofessional at Boltz Middle School. My first year in the classroom was in Ault at Highland High School teaching 9th and 11th grade English along with a section of AP Literature and Composition. After that year I returned to Boltz Middle School and taught 7th grade ELA. And, finally, I came to Webber last year to teach one section of 7th grade and two sections of 6th grade. This year, 2022, I am teaching exclusively 6th grade ELA.
I enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking. But if I'm not outside (or reading), I am probably . I am also an avid Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast and facilitate Webber's D&D Club.
I love watching students figure it out. Those "aha," lightbulb moments are delightful for me.
