I am from Michigan's Upper Peninsula and attended college at the University of Michigan where I received my Bachelor's Degree in History. Following graduation, I moved to Steamboat Springs where I worked in Soda Creek Elementary School as a mentor through AmeriCorps and Partners Mentoring Youth. After three years in Steamboat, I spent a year and half volunteering in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania as the Director of a primary school called the O'Brien School for the Maasai. Eventually, I ended up in Fort Collins where I worked for another AmeriCorps project in Greeley, serving at Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy. Then, I worked for BASE Camp as a Site Director at Tavelli Elementary and O'Dea Elementary. I began working at Webber Middle School mid-way through the 2017-2018 school year. Most of my work has been with elementary school students, which is why I'm thrilled to be working with primarily sixth grade students this year - I look forward to helping these students transition into middle school and support them in their academics!
The things I love most about working with children include:
When I'm not working, I enjoy being outside - particularly camping, hiking, running, and participating in basically any sports! I also like reading, listening to music (my husband is a musician), and scrapbooking. In my spare time, I volunteer with Partners Mentoring Youth and am a Board Member for the O'Brien School for the Maasai and serve as their Volunteer Program Coordinator.
