WEBBER CROSS COUNTRY
Webber cross country is a fall sport that is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. Cross country is a no cut sport and all athletes compete equally. Cross country will practice every school day from 2:50-4:30 pm. We understand that many athletes who are interested in cross country may be involved in other fall sports at the club level (soccer, lacrosse, etc.). Webber cross country is flexible and we willing to work with all athletes. We have had great success in the past working with any athlete that wants to give cross country a try. We will do a variety of workouts throughout the season to prepare our athletes for the 6 meets that we will compete in this year. Each meet will consist of a boys race and a girls race. Runners will race on courses that are between 2-2.5 miles. Meet dates this season are:
Thursday, September 6
Friday, September 14
Saturday, September 22
Friday, September 28
Wednesday, October 3
Saturday, October 6 (DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP MEET)
If your athlete joins the cross country team, locations and meet start times will be provided the first week of official practice (August 22-24). Interested athletes must have a current sports physical and proof of insurance form turned in to the front office at Webber before any participation can begin. In addition, the PSD athletic fee of $105 must be paid before the first official practice (August 22).
A preseason conditioning camp will be held at Webber from 3 pm-4:30 pm on the following dates: Wednesday, August 15, Thursday, August 16, Friday, August 17, Monday, August 20, and Tuesday, August 21. The camp is free, but the sports physical form and proof of insurance form must be turned in to the front office at Webber in order to participate. We will meet by the flagpole in front of Webber during the preseason camp. We encourage all interested athletes to attend the preseason camp. Please arrive in clothing and shoes that you can run in and bring a water bottle. Please email Coach Long at email@example.com if you have any questions.
