WEBBER CROSS COUNTRY
Webber cross country is a fall sport that is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. Cross country is a no cut sport and all athletes compete equally. Cross country will practice every school day from 2:50-4:30 pm. We understand that many athletes who are interested in cross country may be involved in other fall sports at the club level (soccer, lacrosse, etc.). Webber cross country is flexible and we are willing to work with all athletes. We have had great success in the past working with any athlete that wants to give cross country a try. We will do a variety of workouts throughout the season to prepare our athletes for the 6 meets that we will compete in this year. Each meet will consist of a boys race and a girls race. Runners will race on courses that are between 2-2.5 miles. Meet dates this season are:
Thursday, September 6
Friday, September 14
Saturday, September 22
Friday, September 28
Wednesday, October 3
Saturday, October 6 (DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP MEET)
If your athlete joins the cross country team, locations and meet start times will be provided the first week of official practice (August 22-24).
A preseason conditioning camp will be held at Webber from 3 pm-4:30 pm on the following dates: Wednesday, August 15, Thursday, August 16, Friday, August 17, Monday, August 20, and Tuesday, August 21. We will meet by the flagpole in front of Webber during the preseason camp. We encourage all interested athletes to attend the preseason camp. Please arrive in clothing and shoes that you can run in and bring a water bottle. Please email Coach Long at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Please register your student on the new athletic website psdathletics.org and turn in a paper copy of the Dr. Physical to the front office before the first day of camp. The fees will be 105.00 this year and must be paid by the first official practice on Aug. 22. This can be done online at schoolpay or in the main office.
